Glossary
- Ad hoc Zone (AZ)
- MNs that are not registered with any IN operate in ad hoc mode. All such MNs which are reachable from each other belong to a single AZ.
- Control Zone (CZ)
- The collection of all MNs registered with a given IN are said
to belong to the ``Control Zone'' of that IN. The radius of the
CZ is decided by the IN.
- Foreign Agent (FA)
- When an MN moves from one CZ to another, the new IN it registers with becomes its FA.
- Home Agent (HA)
- It is the first IN with which an MN registers with. The HA of an MN never changes.
- Infrastructure Node (IN)
- A node which maintains topology information of its
CZ and provides services to all MNs in its CZ.
- Mobile Node (MN)
- A mobile node is a node which uses the IBAR routing
protocol.
- Node
- A wireless enabled machine. It can be a laptop, PDA,
Simputer or any other mobile device.
- Registration
- An IN offers MNs the service of finding optimal routes to
desired destinations. An MN can avail itself of this service by
``Registering'' itself with the IN.
- Source Route
- The complete route from a source node in a network
to a destination node which specifies all the
intermediate nodes through which the packet has to
pass.
